Aosta Valley, a mountainous region, is situated in the North-West of Italy. It has more or less 118.000 inhabitants. World famous because of its high mountains: Mont Blanc, Matterhorn, Gran Paradiso and Monte Rosa, the region is a beautiful place worth visiting and destination for great vacations with different winter sport resorts.
Agriculture is still an important means for the population. Interesting is the wine culture. It takes passion and dedication to grow grapes upon the rocks, but the work is rewarded by small great rare and unforgettable wines. The vineyards are the highest of Europe! Other typical products are worth tasting: Fontina cheese, sausages, chamois-meat,... The autonomous Region subsidizes agriculture , aiming at quality.
