Could you imagine to spend one week canoeing on a huge
lake? Far away from civilization, without a shower and a warming bed? In August 2002 we (Stefan Arnez, pharmacy student in Vienna,
and Harald Doblhofer,
AIS officer in Salzburg) travelled to Mikkeli - a
small town located at Lake Saimaa, 230 km northeast of Helsinki. It was
the starting point of our greenhorn-lake-saimaa-exploration-tour. We'd
like to motivate all who have always been thinking about a similar adventure
but haven't yet taken the decision to realize it. Experienced canoeists may
also get some new impressions here. People who would never make a tour like
that but just want to enjoy the beauty of the Scandinavian nature are
welcome as well. Weather was fine, landscape was impressive and ...we
survived. |
