Gedeon Burkhard receives fanmail from more than 60 countries. The successful serial "Inspector Rex" is no longer only in Germany a great serial. The actor is relaxed. «I am blissful at all.»


Hamburg, hotel Steigenberger. Gedeon Burkhard is sitting relaxed on a couch. No make up, no hair style and a cosy sweater. He is smoking. Although being busy - he has to go to the airport - he is very good humoured. But maybe he is just playing a role. Gedeon never shows when he is in a bad mood.
Enthusiasm - the new serials of "Inspector Rex" didn't take away Burkhard's joy of being a TV-commissary: «I like going to the set and creating something every day.» He doesn't think that serial-work can be awful sometimes. «Someone thinking that way is obviously in the wrong job.»

«I don't like to use weapons» «First I was not sure if I will be able to escape from the shadow of my predecessor Tobias Moretti», Gedeon Burkhard admits. But his fear was not necessary. The audience rating of "Inspector Rex" ist great. About eight million people are watching every sequence. And the licensers are happy: they sold the serail to more than 60 countries.
«I don't like to use weapons», reveals Gedeon Burkhard. He even has an antipathy against weapons. But it is necessary for the job. He also made a weapon-training. But he doesn't see any contradiction to his point of view and his role in "Inspector Rex": «The Inspector also does not like to use his weapon. »

«I would like to stay being a mystery for my fans.» Burkhard accentuates that there is a great difference between real crime and the TV serial. The cases of "Inspector Rex" are often solved very fabulous. «You often wonder about the cercumstances which make possible to bring the story to an end.» Gedeon Burkhard can not recognise any routine or dullness to crime. «Crime never lose its horror.»
About what his fans think about him he doesn't want to say anything. Lover, big brother or good son of a mother-in-law - he accepts every idea his fans have of him. Smart Burkhard: «I would like to stay being a mystery for my fans. Everyone can have its own idea of me. I am as TV-Inspector, just a fiction.» Gedeon prefers dogs instead of cats. «I like the loyality and honesty of dogs.» Though he likes cats too, but he loves dogs. Discipline and obedience are also characteristics of dogs which is also a reason why Gedeon loves dogs so much. To the questions if he also has these characteristics he answered: «In job, yes.»

«Yes, everything about the tatoo is true.» But only discipline and obedience didn't carry Gedeon Burkhard to the place he is today. «I had a lot of luck and I am very thankful for it. About 250 actors wanted to play the role of the Inspector after Tobias Moretti. After one year of searching it was clear at the end of 1997: Gedeon Burkhard will be the new Inspector. And since that moment we had no problems or reasons to fear. The serial is good and everybody is happy and satisfied.
Hurry up. The TV-Inspector has to drive to the airport. Obviously a little nervous he plays with a part of the bottle. Last answer: «Yes, everything about the tatoo is true. I have a red heart on my arm.» But we didn't got the chance to see it.
