Summary:The article contains a summary of a study by G. Groth and M. Stahlhofen, who analyzed the attitude of elderly adults towards education and learning in old age. The different factors influencing attitude systems are investigated in three groups (senior students, adult education students, non-participants). Moreover it is discussed, whether social economy status and level of former education - based on a model of Strzelewicz - could alter learning behavior of elderly people. In addition critical comments and the connection to recent publications on this field complete the paper.

Zusammenfassung: Die Arbeit stellt die Zusammenfassung einer Untersuchung von G. Groth und M. Stahlhofen dar, die sich mit der Einstellung älterer Menschen zur Lernfähigkeit und Bildung im Alter befaßte. Lernbegriff und Bildung werden hinterfragt sowie analysiert und anhand von drei Gruppen (Seniorenstudenten, VHS-Hörern und Nichtteilnehmern) evaluiert. Überdies wird überprüft, inwieweit die Faktoren sozio-ökonomische Begünstigung und Bildungsvorstellungen - basierend auf dem Modell nach Strzelewicz - das Lernverhalten älterer Erwachsener beeinflussen. Kritische Kommentare und Querverbindungen zur aktuellen Literatur runden die Arbeit ab.
