Prof. Mag. Kurt Schmid

Born 1942 in Vienna , studied at the University of Music in Vienna with Prof. Rudolf Jettel , first works as a self-taught composer in 1959, graduated with distinction and joined the “Tonkünstler” Orchestra of   Lower Austria as a solo clarinettist. Since 1969 intensive study of Vienna-style Music; performance of new compositions in the Viennese genre . In 1970 he began regular teaching activity . 1974 appointed staff teacher at the Vienna Music Seminar, 1980 part-time teaching at the University of Music in Viena. In 1986 he graduated with M.A. degree (Magister artium); increased composition teaching; manager of the “Vienna Amadeus Orchestra". 1993 to 1999 Artistic director and conductor of the “Vienna Clarinet Orchestra”,  first performances of many new compositions. Since 1995 appointed Artistic Vice-President of the Vienna Music Seminar . 1996  Music Director in the “Euro Music Festival” in Korea. In 1997 he  received the professional title of “professor. 1998 he founded the “Strauss-Gala-Orchestra Vienna. Since 1999 he is appointed Honorary Director and conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the State Philharmonic of Oradea. 2000 he became appointed Vice-President of the “Siebenbürger 2000” cultural association . 2002 he received the silver medal of honor from the capitol city of Vienna . At the same time he became appointed Art Director and 1st Conductor of Philharmonic Lugansk. Conductor of concerts in Japan, Korea, Hungary, Ukraine, Rumania, in the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Vienna District Festival. Kurt Schmid teaches master classes in Austria, Japan and Korea.

Born in Vienna, studies of musicology and Austrian history at the University of Vienna, clarinet studies at the Wiener Musikhochschule (Prof. Leopold Wlach), passed final exams with distinction, solo-clarinetist of the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo 1952-54, guest lecturer at the Tokyo Arts University, 1954-88 first clarinetist of the "NÖ Tonkünstlerorchester", numerous concert tours in Europe, America and Japan, founding member of the ensemble "Die Reihe", clarinet lessons in Vienna, Lower Austria and Japan, numerous arrangements for the Vienna Clarinet Choir
